Alternative title: If you build it, they will come…

My wife and I were invited guests to a gala concert at Adelphi University to officially unveil their amazing new performing arts center and sports center. The evening included a wonderful concert by the Adelphi University Symphony Orchestra led by Christopher Lyndon-Gee and featured a program of Mahler’s Symphony No.1 in D Major, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 featuring pianist Simon Mulligan and Intrada Cubana, a wonderful piece by the conductor and chair of the department. In attendance was former music department chair and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Paul Moravec.

Part of the evening was the dedication of 2 new fantastic Fazioli 308 pianos with Paolo Fazioli there himself.

The concert hall was fabulous, the facilities amazing and the orchestra played well. It truly is remarkable how far you can go with a dream. The night was full of praise for University President Robert Scott’s vision and ability to pull this all together. And to go all the way and do it right. I can’t tell you how impressive it all is.

Hmmm….I foresee a film score recording here in the not-so-distant future!

Thanks Bob and Carole for including us!
